Clean Air Living Matters: Exploring Reading (CALM:ER)

The Clean Air Living Matters (CALM) team, in collaboration with the Reading Borough Council , Design Nature, Stantec, and the University of Reading, brought air quality awareness to schools across Reading through its Exploring Reading Air Quality program, which ran until June 2025. As part of the project, schools were equipped with outdoor monitors to track real-time pollution levels around their grounds.

These monitors gave students direct access to local air quality data, turning classroom lessons into hands-on learning experiences. By linking education with monitoring, CALM encouraged schools and families to better understand the impact of pollution on their daily lives, while also strengthening community awareness and action for cleaner air in Reading.
