OpenAQ Partnership

OpenAQ is a nonprofit organization committed to making air quality data openly accessible worldwide. By aggregating government, research, and community sensor data into a single public platform, OpenAQ promotes transparency and collaboration, enabling people everywhere to understand and act on air pollution challenges. Building on this mission, they launched the Community Ambassador Programme, a global initiative that supports leaders in low- and middle-income countries where reliable monitoring is often scarce.

Each year, the programme selects a cohort of dedicated advocates, researchers, and community organizers already leading local clean air projects. Over nine months, ambassadors receive training, mentorship, and access to global networks that help them amplify their impact—whether through education, awareness, or policy advocacy. AirGradient supports this initiative by contributing open-source monitors and technical expertise, helping ambassadors strengthen their projects with reliable data and practical tools. Together, this collaboration empowers communities around the world to turn knowledge into action for cleaner air.
