UNDP Partnership
The UNDP Global Centre in Singapore, in collaboration with AirGradient, developed a Low-Cost Hyperlocal Air Quality Monitoring Toolkit to make air quality monitoring more accessible for communities around the world. Designed as a practical, all-in-one solution, the toolkit guides users through setup, maintenance, and data interpretation – empowering governments, NGOs, and local groups to independently build and manage their own networks.
The toolkit was recently piloted in Hanoi, Viet Nam, with participants from diverse professional and social backgrounds deployed monitors across urban and peri-urban areas. The pilot tested whether users could install and operate the sensors independently, while also engaging with the data in ways that informed their communities. This approach is helping lay the foundation for scalable, community-centered air quality monitoring worldwide.
