Powerful Air Quality Solutions for Schools
Studies show that students stay 90% of their time indoors and that classrooms often have very high levels of CO2 and in some areas particles (PM2.5). We provide a customized indoor air monitoring solution for schools to ensure that students are breathing healthy air.
Monitor
Know the air quality inside your classroom and outside at any time and get notifications as soon as something is going wrong.
Improve
With the comprehensive data available, improve the air quality of your classrooms by optimizing purifiers and closing air leackage.
Benefit
By proving that you have a healthy air environment attract new students, build trust among parents and retain staff. Become a leading school in your area.
How it works
Sensors in each classroom, larger spaces and selected outside locations continously send data to our cloud server. This data is analysed in real-time and you will receive alerts as soon as the air gets outside defined ranges as well as daily standard reports. You can also access the real-time data on your dashboard or on dedicated screens inside the rooms.

Sensors
Place the sensors in each classroom and selected outside locations to monitor PM 2.5, CO2, Temperature and Humidity.
The sensors continuously send data to our centralised server in the cloud via your wifi network and thus do not need a dedicated server at school.

Dashboard and Display
Our powerful dashboard gives you a great overview about current data as well as historical trends. You can easily identify classrooms that do not meet the clean air standards of the school and you are able to make quick improvements.
The system will also immediately notify you if CO2 or PM2.5 gets into unhealthy territory.
AirGradient also offers a small screen that you can place inside the classroom to get real time data without the need to access the dashboard.

Reports
Our System provides a range of regular and ad-hoc reports:
- Daily Report giving an overview of all classrooms and its air quality throughout the school day
- Teaching staff can receive intraday Air Alerts at specific times with the current outside air quality
- Immediate air alerts if a classrooms air is outside its defined limits for immediate action

Specific Features for Schools
AirGradient has specific features especially build for schools
- Integrates your Air Quality School Policy and displays the current advise based on AQI levels
- Implements your school's opening times and holidays to make sure that data is calculated based on occupied dates
- Displays the purifier performance of each room, allowing you to identify hot spots and initiate improvement measures

Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the common questions you might have. If you do not find your answer here, then send us a message with the support form below. We are happy to help!
-
How accurate are the sensors?
We use industrial grade sensors with high accuracy. The particle sensor uses a laser to perform the measurement and contains a small fan to maintain a constant airflow across the sensing chamber. It is produced by Plantower and has a maximum consistency error of ±10%@100~500μ g/m³. For the CO2 sensor, we use the Sensair S8 CO2 sensor with an ±3% of reading accuracy.
-
Do the sensors have a battery?
No, our sensors do not have a battery and need to be plugged in at all times. Since we monitor specific rooms or outdoor locations we recommend to fix the sensors at a specific place.
-
Are the sensors waterproof?
The sensors are not waterproof because there needs to be an active air circulation. We recommend to put the outdoor sensors under an overhanging roof, a porch or covered balcony.
-
Why should I measure particles and CO2?
Particles like PM2.5 and CO2 are the most common pollutants that reach high levels indoors. PM2.5 is one of the most dangerous pollutant because with its small size it can be absorbed into the blood causing adversive effects in organs. When running air purifiers to reduce PM2.5 concentrations you normally keep windows closed. This however can lead to very high CO2 concentrations -especially in a classroom with many children. Our comprehensive monitoring solution gives you insights on how to keep a healthy classroom air, balancing keeping both, particles and CO2 in a healthy range.
-
What is the maximum size of the classroom
that one sensor can cover?
Air constantly flows within enclosed spaces and thus normally one sensor is accurate enough for classrooms and even auditoriums. If you are unsure about your specific requirements, please contact us.
-
What is included in the sensor package?
Besides the sensor, you will find an extra long USB cable and an USB charger. This comes together with a quick start leaflet telling you how to connect the sensor to your wifi.
