AirGradient-UNDP Air Quality Toolkit for Southeast Asia
Initiative Lead: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and AirGradient
Timeline: February 2025 – Ongoing
The UNDP Global Centre in Singapore, in collaboration with AirGradient, is developing a Low-Cost Hyperlocal Air Quality Monitoring Toolkit. This initiative aims to empower communities, especially in developing regions, to monitor and address air quality issues effectively.
Project Details
This Low-Cost Hyperlocal Air Quality Monitoring Toolkit is meant to be a practical, all-in-one package that makes it easier for anyone to set up and run an air quality monitoring network. It’s designed to walk users through everything, from getting started with installation to managing the system over time. By keeping things simple and affordable, the toolkit gives governments, NGOs, and communities the tools they need to build and maintain their own air quality monitoring efforts.
Community Impact
The toolkit is still in development, but it already shows strong potential. Governments could use it to shape public health policies, researchers could gain access to data from areas that have long gone unmonitored, and communities could use it to support advocacy, urban planning, or push for cleaner air. As more regions take part, the data can feed into a broader network, helping build a clearer picture of pollution patterns and supporting smarter decisions for healthier communities.
