Improving Air Quality in Pai, Thailand

February 11, 2024

How Pai, Thailand is using air quality monitoring and community action to better understand pollution and push for local solutions.

Project Details

In January 2024, George Wolstencroft, an Englishman who has lived in Pai for nearly 20 years successfully deployed 30 monitors donated by AirGradient with support from AWS across various strategic locations in Pai, including a health center, border patrol station, the mayor’s house, and even the immigration office.

Community Impact

The donation helps the people of Pai to monitor and understand the real-time air quality. During the burning season, this data becomes crucial, allowing the community to take immediate preventive actions against poor air quality. Over time, the collected data can contribute to future research and provide insights into yearly air quality trends in Pai.
